For 30 years, Tides has been helping donors achieve their philanthropic vision. Our donors are committed to positive social change and want their philanthropy to reflect their progressive values. Every donor brings their own passions, and their own priorities, but they have had much in common:
Tides donors share more practical interests too. They want to take the “heavy lifting” out of their philanthropy through access to expert advice and professional services. They appreciate the efficient systems and financial management capacity of an institution managing over $150 million in assets. They have the confidence that they are getting maximum impact for every dollar granted.
Together the hundreds of donors, families and institutions who have made Tides Foundation the home for their philanthropy have much to be proud of: we have granted more than $500 million over our first 30 years; we pioneered funding for needle exchange; our Relief and Reconstruction Fund has channeled resources quickly and effectively to progressive organizations dealing with the aftermath of crises in East Timor, Kosovo, El Salvador, South Asia, and most recently the Gulf Coast.
Most importantly, our grants have helped build the infrastructure for a strong progressive movement across the country and across the world. They are helping develop and sustain long-term strategies for social change.
We are now home to a comprehensive range of donor services; including donor advised funds; four long-term Tides Initiatives; our Relief and Reconstruction Fund that responds promptly and effectively to emerging crises and challenges; and various donor circles, collaborative giving vehicles, donor and activist conferences and other learning opportunities. Tides has the track record, the capacity and, most importantly, the shared values to be the right home for you and your philanthropy.
