Processing and managing global grants takes time. It also takes experience to deal effectively and efficiently with international donation requirements so that your grant reaches the grantees as quickly as possible. Tides Foundation provides experienced professionals to take care of all the details of your grant. The streamlined international grantmaking program at Tides focuses on due diligence as well as an easy process for grantees and clients. The program includes:

  • Streamlined process for expenditure responsibility grants, expediting the time it takes for grantees to receive the funds after Tides’ approval.
  • Consolidated pre-grant inquiry form and process, minimizing grantee burden, including the time it takes grantees to complete and return our forms, and thus for Tides to approve the grant.
  • Three year validation period for grantee information, greatly diminishing paperwork for the international organizations we support over the long term.

Facilitation of International Grants though Donor Advised Funds

Tides understands the importance of supporting not only effective groups in the U.S., but also organizations doing essential, strategic work abroad. This is why we are one of few foundations in the United States committed to carrying out the additional due diligence and Expenditure Responsibility necessary to facilitate international grants through Donor Advised Funds.

International Grantmaking Collaboratives

Tides Foundation can work with a group of individuals to develop and administer an international grantmaking collaborative focused on a particular issue or geographic area. We can help you plan your grantmaking program and structure, and we can provide a legal and fiscal home for your project.

Global Support Funds

Tides Global Support Funds allow non-U.S. charitable organizations to receive charitable donations in the U.S. and give U.S. donors the means to make tax-deductible international contributions. Non-U.S. charities that meet Tides’ due diligence requirements and fit within Tides' mission may apply to establish a Global Support Fund.

Tides ensures that the non-U.S. organization is operating for charitable and/or educational purposes, processes contributions on behalf of the fund, and re-grants the donations to the organization in the form of strictly monitored grants. Tides does not provide fundraising assistance for Global Support Funds.

  • At this time, Tides is only reviewing applications for Global Support Funds that have confirmed funding of $50,000 or more. Please contact us at info(at)tides.org with any questions, to request more information about these services, or to discuss other ways in which we might assist you.
