ACORN has preserved thousands of homes through its gutting program, organized for the right to return and rebuild and provided a national voice for displaced families through the national ACORN Katrina Survivors Association. |
| COMMUNITY AWARENESS & TREATMENT SERVICES, INC. (CATS) - Since 1978, CATS has been one of the most effective homeless service networks operating in the San Francisco area. Services include drop-in centers which serve as entry points to treatment, and meet basic survival needs of the homeless, plus daily support groups for drug and alcohol abuse and HIV+/AIDS education. |
| COMPASS COMMUNITY SERVICES provides shelter and critical services to San Francisco's homeless and very low-income families. The agency's programs support more than 3,000 parents and children each year in their efforts to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. |
| HAVEN HOUSE provides emergency and support services for single and two parent families with children. The shelter, in East Lansing, Michigan, helps families who are homeless prepare for permanent housing by developing and promoting self sufficiency, stability and financial responsibility. |
| THE HEALING PLACE operates an award-winning program in Louisville, Kentucky for homeless people suffering from alcohol or drug addiction, helping to clear a major obstacle to securing permanent housing. |
| A HOME AWAY FROM HOMELESSNESS supports the needs of homeless kids and families in San Francisco by providing educational, social, and recreational opportunities. Home Away believes that every child deserves the opportunity to experience safe and supportive spaces. |
| THE HOMELESS COALITION - Comprised of 100 member agencies in North Carolina's Cumberland County united to address the issue of homelessness, The Homeless Coalition provides intensive and very individualized case management to the area's homeless population. |
| HOMES FOR THE HOMELESS (HFH) provides homeless families with the critical educational and job skills they need so they can move into permanent housing and achieve economic self-sufficiency over the long term. |
| HOPE HOUSE - Normally considered an urban problem, homelessness unfortunately is also present in rural communities. Hope House provides long-term transitional housing to homeless women and their children in rural Ratides County in central Louisiana. |
| INTERFAITH COUNCIL FOR THE HOMELESS - A united response against homelessness within the religious community, the Interfaith Council for the Homeless works in Chicago to meet homeless people's direct service needs and addresses, through its education and advocacy efforts, the systemic issues that create and perpetuate homelessness. |
| MARY HOUSE provides transitional housing services, shelter and support programs to homeless and struggling families. Mary House works predominately with the low-income, Latin American population of Washington, D.C. and has also expanded its services to resettling Bosnian and Kosovo refugee families. |
| METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION works to meet the basic needs of the most vulnerable in San Francisco, including children from low-income families; homeless men, women, and children; all those affected by HIV/AIDS; and all people facing discrimination, harassment, or physical violence. |
| NATIONAL ALLIANCE TO END HOMELESSNESS (NAEH) works with homeless assistance providers to improve access to housing for people with low incomes. NAEH also advocates for policies and legislation that better meet the needs of homeless and low-income people. |

| RAPHAEL HOUSE became the first shelter in San Francisco for homeless families in 1971. Its mission is to help families at risk achieve stable housing and financial independence, while strengthening family bonds. |
| SHELTER FIRST, INC. converts abandoned motels into needed transitional housing for homeless families and individuals, helping them to then access the resources and services needed to secure permanent housing. |
| SO OTHERS MIGHT EAT (SOME) meets the immediate daily needs of the people it serves with food, clothing, and health care. It helps break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling in Washington D.C. |
| STREET OUTREACH SERVICES (SOS) is the mobile outreach component of San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium’s Health Care for the Homeless program. Since 1988, SOS has provided high quality, non-judgmental health services directly to homeless people in places where they live and congregate. |
| SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES works in San Francisco to help homeless and low-income veterans meet the challenges of social re-integration while simultaneously grappling with, in their words, the "wounds and suffering that last beyond the battlefield." |
| URBAN HOUSING SOLUTIONS offers over 475 affordable rental apartments at different locations throughout Nashville, Tennessee at below market-rate rents. It specializes in housing for the homeless, individuals in recovery, and people with mental illness. |
| WARM WISHES - Warm Wishes is an all-volunteer effort that distributes warm clothing and rain gear to homeless people in New York, Denver and the San Francisco Bay Area. |
