Past Tides Relief and Reconstruction Fund efforts have included:

The Tides 9/11 Fund was established in the wake of the tragic events of September 11, 2001 to help victims and promote a just and peaceful response to the crisis. Tides granted over $600,000 to nonprofit organizations working to assist the working poor affected by the tragedy, to rebuild communities and relationships between people of different ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds, and to protect civil liberties.
In response to the devastating earthquakes in El Salvador and South Asia in early 2001, Tides established the Earthquake Relief Fund. In both regions, funds went not only to groups addressing immediate needs such as emergency housing, food and medicine - needs which were exacerbated by chronic poverty and weak infrastructure - but also to organizations advocating for safe, responsible reconstruction efforts to minimize the impact of such disasters in the future.
The East Timor Democracy Fund supported the East Timorese people's will to have a democratic regime. Tides channeled funding to American and East Timorese organizations that support the emerging East Timor democracy. The call for a new democracy in East Timor resulted in civil violence and the destruction of basic infrastructure. To respond to this situation, we distributed funding to organizations rebuilding this war-torn region and struggling with the violence that erupted on the East Timorese people. Through your contributions, we channeled $68,000.00 in grants to support eight organizations working within East Timor and from the U.S.
The Central America Relief Fund helped international, national and local community-led relief and reconstruction efforts throughout Central America following Hurricane Mitch. Reconstruction efforts included a variety of emergency support strategies. Some organizations distributed emergency health kits while others developed agricultural rehabilitation and irrigation plans. $300,00.00 was granted to 30 organizations by mid-1999. Re-development efforts occurred in Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala.
The Kosovo Fund aided refugees who were victims of war crimes in Kosovo. Donors gave the fund $234,600 for fifteen effective, grassroots organizations. The STAR Kosovo Network established a long-term plan to reconstruct local Kosovo communities and rebuild the government and the Kosovo people from the ground up.
