The fund's grantmaking provides capacity-building grants to state-based activist organizations, focusing on states with good prospects for progressive change. Fundable activities include expansion or enhancement of staff capacity, public education, and direct and grassroots lobbying.
DPMF’s grantmaking supports short-term, strategically-timed projects of grassroots local, state and national organizations. Projects may include media campaigns; polling leading to a larger community education and organizing strategy; components of legislative campaigns; and strategic public education campaigns and speaking tours at the local, state or national levels.
